New restaurant opens on Hollywood Drive
A1 Fish & Chicken, 1867 Hollywood Drive across from Jenkins Lumber Company, has opened.
The restaurant offers dine-in, takeout or delivery.
Wendy’s closes North Highland Avenue restaurant – temporarily
According to Wendy’s Facebook page, their restaurant at 1912 North Highland Avenue has temporarily closed.
Management could not be reached for comment.
The restaurant chain has locations at 2575 Christmasville Cove (off Dr. F.E. Wright Drive), 873 Vann Drive and 1646 South Highland Avenue.
Jackson Country Club announces major golf course renovation
The Jackson Country Club is proud to announce they have signed a comprehensive contract with Spence Golf and Kris Spence, for a restoration and renovation of the club’s golf course.
The multi-million-dollar restoration will upgrade every area of the Golden Age golf course that was built in 1929. The upgrades include: a state-of-the-art irrigation system, new USGA spec green complexes with TifEagle Bermuda, new tee boxes with Zeon Zoysia, new fairway grass with TifTuf Bermuda, renovation of all greenside and fairway bunkers, and new bunkers and landforms will be added throughout the course.
A total renovation of existing holes 8 and 9 will also occur. Number 8 will become a scenic par 3 and number 9 will become a dramatic 600-yard par 5. Additional plans call for the creation of a modern short game practice facility. The restoration will result in added length from the championship tees with a total yardage projected at just over 7,000 yards. However, for members, the restoration will result in a course that all skill levels will enjoy.
Starlight Fuel LLC opens Marathon convenience store on Hollywood Drive at I-40
Starlight Fuel LLC has opened as a Marathon convenience store at 2255 Hollywood Drive at Interstate 40.
The convenience store was the Exxon Food Mart Hollywood Express.
In November 2023, Starlight Fuel opened a new convenience store at 1110 Vann Drive in The Columns Development.
Starlight Fuel LLC purchased commercial property at 1450 Hollywood Drive and is in the process of renovating the former home of Poplar Corner Exxon.
Marathon will replace the Exxon name.
New retailer opening on Vann Drive
Once Upon A Child, located in the Shoppes at the Columns, 1245 Vann Drive, is looking at a late March opening.
The company buys and sells gently used kids’ stuff – clothing, toys, equipment and furniture.
Former T.G.I. Friday’s building scheduled for demolition to make way for this nationally known restaurant
Details are limited, but plans for the former site of T.G.I. Friday’s, 1035 Vann Drive, call for a Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers.
The existing facility would be demolished to make way for a new 2,821-square-foot facility on a lot that consists of 1.61 acres.
If constructed, the new restaurant will offer 65 parking spaces.
