Jackson Energy Authority – Board of Directors approve 7 resolutions during monthly meeting
The Jackson Energy Authority’s Board of Directors approved seven resolutions during their monthly meeting at the Tennergy Center, 250 North Highland Avenue, Thursday.
“JEA’s board of directors met to discuss several business items,” said Monte Jones, Jackson Energy Authority’s chairman of the board. “Those items included approval of engineering services for the electric division, purchase of materials and equipment for various areas, approval of grounds maintenance services, authorization for banking services and bill management services. All items were approved.
“Additionally, financial reports for January were reviewed and accepted by the board. An update on the recent gas line repair near Highway 45 South at the Forked Deer River was given.
“Repair work was successfully completed on this project thanks to work from the gas division staff along with support from several other areas of JEA. Affected clients were notified of the issue and kept up to date through the work.”
A. Resolution authorizing the execution of an engineering work authorization with Allen and
Hoshall for the engineering services related to the design of Oakfield Circuit 4724.
B. Resolution approving the purchase of 4” and 6” polyethylene pipe for the Gas Division.

New coffee shop under construction on South Highland Avenue
An opening date has not been announced, but construction has started on Scooter’s Coffee at 1732 South Highland Avenue.
Scooter’s purchased the property – the former home of Jamaica Me Tan & Jamaica Me Beautiful – from A&D Leasing of Jackson.
The American drive-through coffeehouse, founded and headquartered in Bellevue, Nebraska, has 800 plus in 29 states, and is currently the second-largest drive-through coffee chain and the fifth-largest coffee chain in the United States.
The menu includes hot and cold drinks, including coffee, tea, and smoothies; and food items, such as pastries, burritos, and sandwiches. It also has breakfast and kids menus. Its signature drink is the Caramelicious, an espresso drink with caramel sauce and whipped cream.
