Vicari Italian Grill opening in Jackson

Vicari Italian Grill will open an upscale restaurant inside the new Hyatt Place, which is under construction on the corner of West Forest Avenue and Lambuth Boulevard.

John Mabry, who opened Vicari’s at 514 Cruise St., in Corinth, MS., about 10 years ago, decided to expand into Jackson and offer excellent food, and exceptional service from a professional staff.

When the build out is complete, a target date for opening is set for mid-to-late February or early March.

Menu selections include an Italian flair for pasta, chicken, seafood, and steaks. Full bar service will also be available and offer fine wine selections, beers, and spirits.

With a reputation as a jewel in the Corinth Historic District in downtown Corinth, this dining experience is considered a must for those wanting a comfortable fine dining experience.

The restaurant will offer seating – inside and outside – for 130 guests.

The hotel will be a five-story facility with 107 rooms, approximately 79,000-square-feet and include meeting spaces up to 2,500-square-feet, a full-service fitness center, an indoor/outdoor pool with a bar, a coffee bar with lounging area, and an upscale business center.

The hotel will also be home to a Ronald McDonald House, which provides a home-like setting for families of children who are receiving medical care at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in the neonatal intensive care unit and at Le Bonheur Children’s inpatient unit, both located on the third floor of the hospital.

The Jackson Symphony taps Dr. Patrick Teer to lead new conductor search committee

JACKSON, TN — The Jackson Symphony will embark on a search for a new music director and conductor to replace Peter Shannon, who announced in October that the 2024-25 concert season will be his last.

Selected to lead the search committee is Patrick Teer, physician and decades long Symphony patron. Shannon, who is only the third conductor in the Symphony’s history, will complete a transformative tenure with the orchestra in April 2025, leaving a legacy of artistic achievement and community engagement.

“Patrick Teer is uniquely qualified to lead the search for the fourth conductor in Jackson Symphony history,” said Greg Alexander, president of the board of directors. “His parents, Dr. & Mrs. George A. Teer were instrumental in the founding of the orchestra, and supporting the Symphony has been a family affair ever since.

“Both Patrick and his wife, Jan, as well as his sister, Pattilu and her husband, Steve Raper, are season subscribers, supporters, and advocates for The Jackson Symphony and all its programming.”

In addition to Dr. Teer, the following were appointed to the conductor search committee: Dorris Battle, Anita Hamilton, Leonie Hefley, Jasper Hensley, Keith Herris, William Hutchinson, Larry Smith, Roger Smith, Sherry Freeman, and Greg Alexander.
