Mini storage site plan approved for Highway 70 East

The consideration of a preliminary site plan for Shawn Ragan Mini Storage, proposed to be located at 1569 Highway 70 East, was approved by the Jackson Municipal Regional Planning Commission during their monthly meeting at Jackson City Hall, Wednesday.

Submitted by Shawn Ragan on behalf of Lonnie Cobb, the site plans show there will be two 204-foot by 30-foot buildings, located behind an existing building.

Levy Dermatology approved for new site plan by Regional Planning Commission

The consideration of a preliminary site plan for Levy Dermatology, proposed to be located at 158 Murray Guard Drive, was approved by the Jackson Municipal Regional Planning Commission during their monthly meeting at Jackson City Hall, Wednesday.

The proposed 5,572-square-foot facility was submitted by Carter Construction on behalf of Dr. Alan Levy, and is scheduled to replace it existing 3,500-square-foot location at 15 A Old Humboldt Road.

Levy Dermatology, which opened in late fall in 2019 in Jackson, became the second tenant in a new 8,000-square-foot facility located near BancorpSouth, George A. Smith & Sons Funeral Home and Towering Oaks Office Complex on North Highland Avenue.

Levy Dermatology has two locations in Shelby County – 6254 Poplar Avenue in Memphis, and 1125 Schilling Blvd. East in Collierville.

Business Spotlight – Lynne Barker named Jackson Symphony’s vice president for development

The Jackson Symphony is pleased to announce that Lynne W. Barker has joined the team as Vice President for Development. Barker will cultivate new sources of support, strengthen current donor and sponsor relationships, spur endowment growth, and serve as a liaison and touch point for individual, business and industry supporters.

Barker brings expertise in revenue growth, thought leadership, and product and service positioning with her more than 30 years of sales and management experience, primarily in the pharmaceutical industry including Gilead Sciences, Inc., Abbott, and Pfizer. She has received numerous sales awards including multiple “President’s Club Awards” for top 10% in sales production. With past territory focused exclusively in Jackson and West Tennessee, she is deeply familiar with the region’s communities and is excited to tell The Jackson Symphony’s story to a broader audience.

Business Spotlight – Logan McCoy, Greater Jackson Chamber, earns Economic Development Certification

Logan McCoy, Greater Jackson Chamber of Commerce vice president of Existing Industry, completed The University of Tennessee Center for Industrial Services’ (UT CIS) Tennessee Certified Economic Developer (TCED) Program.

According to a press release from Lindsay Dawkins – the Chamber’s vice president of Investor Relations – McCoy was a member of the 19th TCED class. This cohort brings the total number of Tennessee certified economic developers to 118.

“All of our Tennessee certified economic developers made a serious commitment to achieve this designation.” said Kim Denton, UT CIS Economic Development Director. “They now will be able to use this in-depth knowledge to benefit their communities and regions.”

Graduation was held at the IPS Training Center in Nashville. Graduates presented their Capstone Projects, which is the final requirement to achieve the TCEcD designation.

McCoy’s project title was Importance of an Existing Industry Program in a Region Poised for Significant Growth.

TCED candidates completed a week-long Basic Economic Development Course and a series of six core courses pertinent to economic and community development for a total of 92 instructional hours.

Orangetheory Fitness opening in Jackson on Pleasant Plains Extension

Orangetheory Fitness is opening a location in Jackson at 2100 Pleasant Plains Extension Suite B.

Orangetheory Fitness (OTF) is a fast-growing, group fitness concept that uses heart-rate-monitored training to keep heart rates in a target zone. Participants burn anywhere from 500 to 1,000 calories per 60-minute training session using a variety of equipment including treadmills, rowing machines, TRX suspension training and free weights.

Build-out for the 1,800-square-foot facility is scheduled to begin in late May or early June, and an opening date is scheduled for mid- to late September.

Owned by Hollie and Zachary Jett, Orangetheory Fitness Jackson, TN will begin membership sign ups this summer at which time you can sign up for a founding member rate, a discounted membership rate that stays throughout the life of your membership.

Each Orangetheory franchise is independently owned.

Upper casual restaurant opening in the Shoppes at the Columns on Vann Drive

The build-out continues for a new restaurant at 1231 Vann Drive – and you probably will recognize the owner and location.

Located in the Shoppes in the Columns on Vann Drive and owned by Frank Arcuri, the unnamed (for now) restaurant will offer what is being described as upper casual for the 4,200-square-foot facility that was once home of Genghis Grill.

Frank Arcuri, who also owns Flatiron Grill and Bistro Eleven Sixty (Wednesday-Saturday 4:30 p.m. – 9 p.m.) – both located at 1160 Vann Drive – said he always had a special feeling about the new location, which will offer seating for 125- to 135 guests, private dining facilities, an outdoor patio, full bar, with a staff of 35 employees.
