Former home of Madison Haywood Developmental Services sells to church for $2 million +

The former home of Madison Haywood Developmental Services, 38 Garland Drive, has been sold.

SoulQuest Church, which has been holding services in the Union University Chapel – purchased the 48,000-square-foot facility for $2.8 million.

Eden Smith, Coldwell Banker Barnes, represented both parties in the transaction.

Business Spotlight – Taylor Smith joins Jackson Urological Associates

Physician’s assistant Taylor M. Smith has joined Jackson Urological Associates.

He received his bachelor’s degree in athletic training from Union University where he provided care for the six-time National Champion women’s basketball team.

He completed his master’s degree in physician assistant studies at Bethel University where he obtained a core specialty in general surgery.

He graduated at the top of his class with a 4.0 GPA.

Taylor and wife Kyndall have two children. Taylor enjoys spending time with his family and is an avid golfer.

Construction resumes on hotel at Old Medina Crossing

A project first introduced in October 2018 and hampered by delays, including a dispute between ownership and the previous contractor, has resumed at Old Medina Crossing.

Home2 Suites by Hilton, located between Old Medina Market and the Residence Inn by Marriott Jackson, is described as a more affordable, all-suite extended-stay hotel featuring contemporary accommodations and customizable guest room design.

Consisting of 57,191-square-feet, the four-story Memphis-based hotel brand will offer 89 rooms and target both business and leisure travelers.

Launched in January 2009, Home2 Suites by Hilton was the first new brand introduced by Hilton Worldwide in 20 years.

Home2 Suites hotels are 100 percent franchised.

The property where the hotel is being constructed consists of 3.22 acres and was purchased by JHG Hospitality LLC from RMR Investment Company for $1.3 million.

West Tennessee Healthcare – Calvin Richardson, executive chef, named employee of the month

When Calvin Richardson began his employment at West Tennessee Healthcare, the price of a postage stamp was 0.20, a loaf of bread was 0.71, a gallon of milk was $1.94, and the average price for a gallon of gasoline was $1.27.

That was 1984, and Calvin Richardson, who has been an employee for over 40 years at West Tennessee Healthcare, has been named the organization’s employee of the month for March.

Calvin, who serves as an executive chef in the food and nutrition department, was presented the award by Vice President Deann Thelen, VP/CEO, JMCGH and Warren Goodman, director, food & nutrition, when the Board of Trustees held their monthly meeting at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital, Tuesday.

His coworkers say Calvin is very dependable and you can always count on him to go above and beyond.

Business Spotlight – Gary Rothstein named Community Foundation of West TN Chief Financial Officer

Jackson, Tenn. – The Community Foundation of West Tennessee announces Gary Rothstein as Chief Financial Officer.

As Chief Financial Officer, Rothstein is responsible for managing financial operations and ensuring financial health and well-being for the Community Foundation. He will work closely with Senior Leadership and the Board of Trustees to support the mission and goals of the organization.

“We are excited about the diverse experience in finance and operations that Gary brings to our team,” said Beth Koffman, Chief Operating Officer for the Community Foundation. “His background will be a tremendous asset for our organization as we continue to grow and serve our community.”

Rothstein comes to the Community Foundation with a wealth of experience in finance, budgeting, and operations. He earned his undergraduate degree in finance from Liberty University and has a Master of Business Administration from West Virginia University. He most recently served as Associate Vice President of Planning Effectiveness, and Special Projects for Columbia State Community College. Gary lives in the Jackson area with his wife, Dr. Carol Rothstein.
