Planning Commission rezones area west of middle school for new single family homes
The consideration of a request to rezone property located west of Anglewood Drive from RS-1 (Single Family District) to RS-2 to RS-2 (Single Family) District was approved by the Jackson Municipal Regional Planning Commission during its monthly meeting at Jackson City Hall, Wednesday.
Located about 0.6 tenths of a mile west of Northeast Middle School, the property consists of approximately 41.821 acres.
FedEx Ship Center closes Jackson location
Management could not be reached for comment, but FedEx Ship Center, 2125 Express Drive, has closed.
According to a sign at the facility – which is next door to Averitt Express – the Ship Center has relocated to 1 FedEx Way in Humboldt.
The next closest location in Jackson is 5 Stonebridge Boulevard.
Beer Board approves permit for convenience store
The Jackson Beer Board approved one business permit during a special called meeting at Jackson City Hall, Tuesday.
Chad Long, representing a business known as Mac’s Convenience Stores LLC, Circle K, 20 Johnson Creek Boulevard, was approved for selling, storing, and distributing for consumption off the premises.
Mapco Express, 20 Johnson Creek Boulevard (Interstate 40 Exit 87), originally opened at the location in December 2017.
With parking for 35 vehicles, the convenience stores offers 14 fuel pumps for automobiles and four fuel pumps for trucks.
The 5,500-square-foot convenience store was constructed by Bosco LLC Contractor Services of Jackson on 4.12 acres.
West Tennessee Healthcare – Eddie Berina named employee of the month
Eddie Berina, an employee at West Tennessee Healthcare for over four years was named the organization’s employee of the month for October.
Eddie, who works in the Laundry department as a Laundry Tech II, was presented the award by Tim Adams, a West Tennessee Healthcare vice president, and Kristen Chambers, interim director, Laundry, when the Board of Trustees held their monthly meeting at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital, Tuesday.
One co-worker said, “Eddie’s productivity and work ethic is unmatched and he motivates other coworkers with job performance. Eddie is very humble and never complains.”
