For those who are looking to take it upon themselves to sell their own home, Brent Ward, CEO/Association Executive – Central West Tennessee Association of Realtors offers a few thoughts on the subject, a subject that begins where one word usually comes to mind.
“They will save on the commission … a typical thought,” Ward said, “The National Association of Realtors does a study every year and they track for sale by owner (FSBO) … houses that are sold by owners are actually sold for less than what the market value actually is on that property.
“When you list your house for sale by owner, you have to let every person who knocks on your front door in your house and you don’t know anything about them, because the minute you let one in – and you don’t let the next one in – you just broke a Fair Housing Law. You may end up losing the house … Fair Housing lawsuits are very expensive – that’s just one example I can think of.”
Ward said percentages show safety becomes the issue when an individual tries to sell their own home.
“You spend your whole life keeping your house safe – doors locked, windows locked, your family safe – that’s your castle, it’s where you live – it’s your home,” Ward said, “You list with a realtor, there’s not a single person who comes through that house who hasn’t been vetted before they walk in the front door.

Jackson Clinic announces Dr. Casey Zelus as new Infectious Disease Physician
Jackson, TN – Dr. Casey Zelus joins The Jackson Clinic in a hybrid role with the Infectious Disease Department and also to assist The Jackson Clinic’s Hospitalist Department at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.

Dr. Zelus is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Disease. An infectious disease specialist is an expert in the diagnosis and treatment of illnesses caused by microorganisms. Beer Board approves 3 special occasion, 2 business permits during monthly meeting
The Jackson Beer Board approved three special occasion and two business permits during their monthly meeting at Jackson City Hall, Tuesday.
Randy Hall was approved for a special occasion permit for an event known as the Jacob Barker Music Fest to sell, store, and serve Oct. 6-7 at the West Tennessee Fairgrounds.
Verushka Wilson was approved for a special occasion permit for an event known as the to sell, store, and serve at an event known as “Runway for a Cure,’ which will be held Oct. 19 at the Carl Perkins Civic Center.
Frank McMeen, president, Community Foundation of West Tennessee, was approved for a special occasion permit for an event known as The 32nd Annual Charity Gala, to sell, store, and serve beer at the Patron’s Party, Nov. 10 at 237 Wiley Parker Road, and the Nov. 11 Gala at the Carl Perkins Civic Center.
Robin Turner, representing Family Dollar Store – 1000 Whitehall Street and 1301 North Highland Avenue – was approved for a business permit for selling, storing, and distributing for consumption off the premises.
