Car wash will not be located on Vann Drive in the Columns
Wash Town Car Wash will not become part of the landscape at 1110 Vann Drive, due to property restrictions in the Columns Development.
In August 2022, it was announced a 4,640-square-foot building was scheduled for demolition to make way for Wash Town, a locally owned and family-managed car wash with over 20 years of experience washing cars.
The location is the former home of West Alley Bar-B-Q & Smoke House, which closed in March 2021.
Casa Adobe Restaurante occupied the facility before West Alley, but closed in June 2018.

Business Spotlight – Hashmi, Head, Howell join Haven Insurance Partners
Haven Insurance Partners announces the addition of three new hires – Alya Hashmi, Savannah Head, and Stewart Howell – to their downtown Jackson, Tennessee location.
Haven is an independent insurance agency, providing access to many different insurance markets for its personal and commercial clients.
“We started in February, 2020 in downtown Jackson, and since that time we have been fortunate enough to experience sustained growth, which is fantastic,” said Caleb Meriwether – Agency Principal – “With that growth, however, we realized that we really needed to add to our staff.
“Alya, Savannah, and Stewart are already contributing, and we are fortunate to have them.
“It is nice, with technology, to allow our coworkers the flexibility to work some days from home and some in the office. Exciting times.”
Alya Hashmi – Alya joins Haven to assist with the renewal process for our personal and commercial lines accounts. Her undergraduate majors are in accounting and finance. She worked with KPMG in their audit department in London, England, and also worked as a Credit Associate with S&P Global.
She will use her financial background to assist our clients in discovering additional cost saving) opportunities at their annual renewals.
Savannah Head – Savannah joins Haven to work with Alya on the renewal team and also serve as our client concierge manager.
Savannah is from Jackson, Tennessee and earned her degree in music business from MTSU.
She has worked in customer service and insurance since her graduation. Haven and its clients are lucky to have Savannah working for them.
Stewart Howell – “Intern Stewart” attends the University of Tennessee at Martin where he is majoring in business finance and plays football. He will graduate in December 2024. He will assist Haven’s producers in identifying, approaching, and providing quotes and options to new clients.
New home construction approved for Jackson subdivision
The consideration of a final plat for Kingston Creek – Clarendon Cove section 3 – comprising of 29 lots has been approved by the Jackson Municipal Planning Commission.
Submitted by Surveying Services, Inc., on behalf of Kingston Creek Partners, the site is located off Cooper Anderson Road on approximately 6.26 acres.
Jackson-Madison County Airport Authority promotes Cindy Melton, Brandon David
Jackson, Tennessee – The Jackson-Madison County Airport Authority, responsible for managing the operations of McKellar-Sipes Regional Airport, is proud to announce the promotions of key employees within the organization.
According to a press release from Harvey Boyd, media relations, McKellar-Sipes Regional Airport, Cindy Melton, formerly Deputy Airport Director, has been promoted to Deputy Director/Airport Manager.
Brandon David, formerly Airport Operations Manager/Interim FBO Manager, has been promoted to Deputy Airport Director.
“These promotions reflect the significant contributions these individuals have made to the success of our organization,” said Steve Smith, Executive Director. “We are confident that they will excel in their new roles and continue to drive growth and innovation across the company.”
Boba Tea / Milk Tea opening on Stonebrook Place
Information is limited, but renovations are underway for a new restaurant – Boba Tea / Milk Tea – at 169 Stonebrook Place, in the same complex with Verizon, Plato’s Closet and Do Dah’s Donuts.
Boba is a drink that includes tapioca or fruit-flavored pearls.
It is also a reference to a traditionally cold-served beverage that has a tea base, a milk or fruit flavor, and edible pearls – the ‘boba’ in boba tea – inside a cup.
New commercial property scheduled near Airport Industrial Park
The consideration of a request to rezone property located at 422 Smith Lane near Airport Industrial Park, has been approved by the Jackson Planning Commission.
The rezoning – forestry, agriculture, recreation – to manufacturing and warehousing – comprises of approximately 75 acres – and was submitted by Josh LeFevre, Inc., on behalf of Rachel Smith and Annie Jamison.
The number of square feet for the warehouse has not been announced.
