Highlights from the February 2023 Labor Force Estimates:

UNEMPLOYMENT RATES FOR WEST TENNESSEE COUNTIES CLICK HERE

  • The Seasonally Adjusted Unemployment Rate for Tennessee remained the same at 3.5% from January to February.
  • During the same time period, the Seasonally Adjusted Unemployment Rate for the United States increased to 3.6% from January’s 3.4%.
  • The unemployment rate decreased in 22 counties, increased in 52 counties, and remained the same in 21 counties.
  • Moore County had the lowest unemployment rate at 2.5 percent.
  • Cocke County had the highest unemployment rate at 6.5 percent.

Kami Ramen Bar sets opening date for restaurant on Vann Drive

Kami Ramen Bar management is looking at opening at 103 Vann Drive in the Columns in late April or early May.

Consisting of approximately 6,000-square-feet, the restaurant – which will offer seating for approximately 90 guests – is described as a casual traditional Japanese Ramen Noodle restaurant with amazing drinks – a true taste Of Japan.

The restaurant is known for its appetizers, buns, salads, donburi and of course, ramen – Chicken Ramen, Vegetable Ramen, Tonkotsu Ramen and desserts.

When the business opens, it will employ about 20 people.

West Tennessee Healthcare – Samantha Cupples named employee of the month for March

Samantha Cupples, who works at the LiFT Health Clinic as a patient access representative, is the West Tennessee Healthcare employee of the month for March.

Samantha has been employed at West Tennessee Healthcare for over eight years.

She will be presented the award by Darrell King, a WTH vice president, and Lindsey Randolph, director/practice administrator when the West Tennessee Healthcare Board of Trustees hold their monthly meeting at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital, Tuesday.

According to a press release from Amy Garner – WTH’s Chief Compliance & Communications Officer “She is always calm, communicates clearly, and kindly to our patients. Her co-workers know if she is in the office it is going to be a great day!

“They all enjoy her compassion, enthusiasm, and smile she brings in everyday!”

According to a press release from Greg Hammond – Jackson-Madison County School System’s chief of public information – veteran auditor and longtime JMCSS employee Kelli Pierce has been promoted to the role of Chief Financial Officer for JMCSS.

Detroit-based Walbridge is the lead contractor for the new complex, and a nationally known retailer, Lowe’s – is setting up shop on the 3,600-acre campus.

“We knew we would need instantaneous requests for materials and delivery and we have a trailer on site where a representative from Lowe’s takes the order and gets it here the same day – usually within an hour,” said Donna Langford construction manager for BlueOval SK Ford Land, “It’s not for the public, it’s for the construction site.”

Langford also said there are three concrete plants on campus and “two great partners – United Rentals and SunBelt Rentals – it’s a great service because our contractors don’t have to go off-site looking for rental equipment.”
