Jackson Energy Authority – Board of Directors approve 12 resolutions during monthly meeting

A new president/CEO and 12 resolutions highlighted the Jackson Energy Authority’s Board of Directors monthly meeting at The Tennergy Center, Thursday.

“The JEA Board of Directors welcomed Monte Cooper as the new President and CEO at its monthly meeting today,” said Monte Jones, JEA’s chairman of the Board of Directors, “Mr. Cooper presented his first report to the board in his new role while providing updates on rates and various projects.

“The board considered and approved 12 resolutions related to equipment, rates, and services.

“A recommendation from the board to designate Alexander Thompson Arnold PLLC as the audit firm was also approved.”

Commercial property on North Highland Ave. sells for $1 million

RAM Express Incorporated has purchased commercial property at 1974 North Highland Avenue, from Ferguson Brothers Partnership for $1,000,000.

The property sale, which includes a convenience store, is the second on North Highland Avenue in the past five months.

Riad Razeq added 2325 North Highland Avenue to his real estate holdings in Jackson.

The location is a convenience store Riad purchased from Ferguson Brothers Partnership for $580,000.

Riad – with Ziyad Qaadan – also purchased 865 Vann Drive, from Young Kim in Oct. 2020 for $1,540,000.

Riad and Ziyad also own Checkers Restaurant, 620 Carriage House Drive, which opened in July 2018.

Construction continues on 240-unit Shadow Creek West apartment complex

Construction continues on a new apartment complex at Shadow Creek West on Murray Guard Drive.

The plan is for five phases – Phase 1 will consist of 48 units and the club house, scheduled to open around June 1.

Overall the complex will consist of 10 apartment buildings – one-and-two bedrooms – and a clubhouse located on a 12.7-acre lot.

Each of the apartment buildings will be three stories in height.

There will be a total of 240 apartment units, which will comply with yard, lot coverage and height requirements.

Shadow Creek West will offer 380 parking spaces.

FHU College of Business further expands Launch Virtual Career Center for students

Henderson, TN – The Freed-Hardeman University College of Business has continued its investment in career services for students by expanding the Launch Virtual Career Center with a remodeled Launch Virtual Studio and adding Launchpad Coworking Spaces.

These expanded areas are in the Brown-Kopel Business Center.

According to a press release from Tajuana Cheshier – The Bramblett Group – the Launch Virtual Career Center was established in 2019 in response to the need for ongoing career development, networking and virtual vocational communications. It unites all career services and spaces and allows current and former business students to make connections with potential employers.

The remodeled Launch Virtual Studio, located on Brown-Kopel Business Center’s second floor, is a physical space for students to participate in online interviews and meet other career needs.
