Brooks Shaw Old Country Store offers unique Valentine’s Dinner experience

Jackson, Tennessee – Brooks Shaw’s Old Country Store will host the third annual Valentine’s Day three-course dinner for couples at 1837 Providence House, with seatings at 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., Monday, Feb. 13 -Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2023.

According to a press release from Tajuana Cheshier – The Bramblett Group – reservations must be made by Wednesday, Feb. 8, at noon; a full payment of $140 per couple (plus tax) is due at the time of the reservation. Guests will select their main course at the time of the reservation, also.

Tables will be sold on a first come, first served basis. Seatings range from one table for two guests to two tables of four guests. Spots are limited.

Monte Cooper transitions into new role as CEO at Jackson Energy Authority

Jackson, TENNESSEE – Monte Cooper became the new Chief Executive Officer of Jackson Energy Authority (JEA), Feb. 1, 2003.

Monte is only the sixth CEO in the 62-year history of the company.

Jim Ferrell retired as JEA President and Chief Executive Officer, January 31.

Monte began his career with Jackson Energy Authority while working as a co-op engineering student from 1992-1995. After graduating from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 1997, Monte was offered a position with Memphis Light Gas & Water as a Project Engineer.

He returned to JEA in March of 1998 as an Electric Project Engineer and has since been promoted to various management positions.

He was serving as Senior Vice President of the JEA Electric Division before taking on his new role as CEO.

Jackson Energy Authority announces leadership changes

On February 13, 2023, Ryan Porter will become JEA’s new Chief Operating Officer.

Ryan comes to JEA from the Greater Jackson Chamber where he served as Chief Strategy Officer & General Counsel, Chief Operating Officer, and Vice President of Strategic Initiatives from 2011 – present.

Ryan’s employment with the Chamber began after working as an attorney with Pentecost, Glenn & Tilly from 2009 – 2011.

Prior to that, Ryan was employed at our very own Jackson Energy Authority for seven years as Director of Safety & Security and he also served as a Police Officer, Crime Scene Technician and Field Training Officer for the Jackson Police Department from 1998 – 2002.

Ryan graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and received his Doctor of Jurisprudence in 2007 from the Nashville School of Law.

Effective immediately, Ted Austin will assume the role of Chief Customer Officer.

Ted joined JEA in 2002 as a Customer Service Representative and in September of 2003 he was promoted to Customer Accounts Supervisor in the Call Center.

On February 5, 2007, Ted accepted the position of Senior Marketing Manager and in July 2008 he was promoted to the position of Manager of Customer Care.

In 2013, Ted became Vice President of Customer Service and Community Relations where he was responsible for field services, propane services, customer care and marketing and communications.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Tennessee at Martin and in 2012 he earned his MBA from Union University.

Additionally, effective immediately, Mike Baughn will assume the position of Chief Technology Officer.

Mike Baughn began his career at Jackson Energy Authority in July 2004 as a Programmer Analyst.

Over the next several years, he served in various roles within JEA’s Information Technology department and was promoted to his most recent role as Vice President of Information Technology in September 2011.

Mike graduated from Bethel College in McKenzie, TN with a B.S. in business management, minoring in computer information systems. Mike earned an MBA from the University of Tennessee at Martin in 2009.

Jackson’s Kitchen & Catering scheduled to open at 203 E. Lafayette St., in April

Renovations continue for additional dining in downtown Jackson at 203 East Lafayette Street, where Jackson’s Kitchen & Catering has a set a target date of April 2023, to open.

Affiliated with Rock’n Dough Pizza + Brewery, Jackson’s Kitchen & Catering will offer breakfast and lunch while also offering a venue for private event space and quality catering options in downtown Jackson.

‘The perfect spot’ – Allen Samuels Holdings constructing new Hyundai dealership on 45 Bypass

It’s out with the old and in with a new state-of-the-art facility at Allen Samuels Hyundai, 1639 U.S. Highway 45 Bypass in Jackson.

Dynamix Physical Therapy announces 14th location in West Tennessee

MILAN, TENN. – Dynamix Physical Therapy announced its acquisition of The Sideline Physical Therapy in Martin, Tenn., back in December 2022, making this the 14th Dynamix location in West Tennessee.

Effective immediately, The Sideline is now offering physical therapy, sports medicine and fitness services under the name Dynamix Physical Therapy.

Both Russ Huffstetler and Heath Ladd, co-owners of Dynamix, are in agreement that joining forces with Brian Smith, the previous owner of The Sideline, is a great move.
