Bahia Bowls Acai Cafe’ holds ribbon cutting on Pleasant Plains Extension

The first tenant for 2100 Pleasant Plains Extension officially opened following a ribbon cutting, Friday.

Bahia Bowls, a new cafe’ that will offer a variety of healthy choices that are recognized as both delicious and nutritious, opened in a new 9,800-square-foot facility.

Guests will be able to choose from made-to-order chopped salads and wraps with many items being Gluten free, NO added sugar, NO artificial preservatives and NO trans fats.

For customer convenience a drive-thru will also be available along with take-out and inside dining.

MG Construction Company was the lead contractor for the facility located next to Foundation Bank.

Jackson Planning Commission approves consideration of revised plat for new subdivision

The Jackson Municipal Planning Commission approved the consideration of a revised preliminary plat for Epperson Place – Phases 1-3, during their monthly meeting at Jackson City Hall, Wednesday.

Comprising of 60 lots on approximately 20.99 acres in a single family residential district off Old Humboldt Road, the plan was submitted by Surveying Services Inc., on behalf of Kingston Creek Partners.

The lots will range from approximately 9,000-square-feet to 18,000-square-feet.

Business Spotlight – Ginger Rowsey named public information officer at Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department

JACKSON, Tennessee – The Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department has welcomed veteran journalist and public relations professional Ginger Rowsey as Public Information Officer, Director Kim Tedford announced Wednesday.

In this role, Rowsey will work with local media and the community to share information about the health department and its programs, and to keep residents informed on matters of public health.

“I’m excited to be joining the Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department and to be working with an elite team of professionals who are creating a healthier community through their programs and services,” Rowsey said.

Rowsey has a long industry in the communications industry. She began her career as an anchor and reporter with WBBJ in 2005. She spent 12 years as spokesperson and communication specialist with the University of Tennessee AgResearch, which includes Research and Education Centers in Jackson and Milan.

Most recently, Rowsey served as Senior Staff Writer for Delta Farm Press — a publication targeting the Mid-South’s agricultural industry.

Rowsey replaces Mallory Cooke, who left the Department in November to join the external communications team at Blue Oval SK.

Jackson Beer Board approves 1 business, 3 special occasion permits during monthly meeting

The Jackson Beer Board approved requests for one business and three special occasion permits during its monthly meeting at City Hall, Tuesday.

The permits are for selling, storing and serving.

Chris Miller, Jackson-Madison County Crime Stoppers, was approved for a special occasion permit for an event known as the’ Law Enforcement Ball,’ which will be held at the Jackson Fairgrounds, January 14.

Anita Hamilton with The Jackson Symphony League was approved for a special occasion permit for an event known as The Crystal Ball at the Carl Perkins Civic Center, January 28, 2023.

Randy Hall, Starfire Promotions LLC, was approved for a special occasion permit for an event known as ’38 Special Concert,’ which will be held at the Carl Perkins Civic Center, February 2, 2023.

Ryan A. Hallmark was approved for a business permit for RNR Holdings, dba Rock n Roll Sushi, 2046 Pleasant Plains Extension – pending background check of onsite manager.

Business Spotlight – West TN PBS names Peter Noll new general manager & CEO

Members of the West Tennessee Public Television Council Inc are excited to announce the appointment of Peter Noll as the station’s new General Manager & CEO.

According to a press release from Katrina C. Cobb – assistant station manager – Noll began at West TN PBS (WLJT-TV) January 2023.

“We are thrilled to welcome someone with Peter’s experience and enthusiasm to the West TN PBS Team,” says Rodney Freed, President of the West TN PBS Board of Directors, “His passion for television and community is contagious and will serve our viewers, members and community well into the future.”

Noll’s appointment comes after an extensive national search, involving several outstanding applicants. He brings more than 28 years of experience working in the television industry at some of the county’s top media companies.
