Groundbreaking held for Hyatt Place – Ronald McDonald House
A groundbreaking ceremony was held for the new Hyatt Place – Ronald McDonald House – which will be constructed on the corner of West Forest Avenue and Lambuth Boulevard.
The facility will benefit the children at Ayers Children’s Medical Center.
It will provide housing for children’s families, a place for long-term cancer/hospice families to stay as well as families of long-term heart patients.
The hotel will be a 5-story facility with 107 rooms, consisting of approximately 79,000-square-feet, and will include meeting spaces up to 2,500-square-feet, a full-service fitness center, an indoor/outdoor pool with a bar, a coffee bar with lounging area, a full-service commercial restaurant with indoor/outdoor seating, and an upscale business center.
The Ronald McDonald House will occupy the 2nd floor and will include 20 rooms, a community kitchen and living area, as well as a laundry area for families who need a home away from home while their children receive medical care.
West Tennessee Healthcare – Shawn Perry named employee of the month for December
Shawn Perry, who has been with West Tennessee Healthcare for over 15 years, was named the organization’s employee of the month for December.
Her current role is at West Tennessee Healthcare – Milan Hospital in Patient Access.
Shawn was presented the award when the West Tennessee Healthcare Board of Trustees held their monthly meeting at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital, Friday.
The award was presented by Vice President: Jeff Blankenship, EVP/CFO; Executive Director: Alex Gonzalez, Patient Access, and Director: Anthony Myers, Admitting/Registration.

Leaders Education Foundation announces new workforce readiness scholarships – up to $10,000 to be awarded
JACKSON, Tennessee – Leaders Education Foundation, a non-profit 501C-3 formed by Leaders Credit Union, is pleased to announce the addition of workforce readiness scholarships to meet the needs of students preparing to enter the workforce.
The new program will award up to $1,000 to students enrolled in workforce readiness programs or pursuing industry certifications through community colleges or the Tennessee College of Applied Technology. Application periods will open annually on Dec. 1, May 1, and Aug. 1 for spring, fall and summer sessions.
“With new manufacturers, medical facilities and businesses choosing West Tennessee, it’s important that our workforce is trained and ready to lead the way,” said Leigh Anne Bentley, president of Leaders Education Foundation.
The scholarship funds can be used for tuition, purchasing associated supplies, books or materials, testing fees or other related costs associated with the program or certification.

Business professionals graduate from Leadership Jackson Program
Leadership Jackson, a leadership development program for community members who demonstrate leadership potential, held its 44th graduation ceremony at the Carl Grant Events Center on the campus of Union University, Thursday.
Sponsored by the Greater Area Jackson Chamber of Commerce, the program is an opportunity for local professionals to learn more about the community and the challenges it faces.
Leadership Jackson, class of 2022, was led by Chair David Knack and Vice-Chair Margaret Livingston, Middle School Director, University School of Jackson.
