Jackson Energy Authority board of directors approve 6 resolutions during monthly meeting

The Jackson Energy Authority’s board of directors reviewed – and approved – six items of business during their monthly meeting at the Tennergy Center, Thursday.

The items included a contract with Silicon Ranch to provide solar power under an agreement that would allow JEA to purchase renewable energy as outlined in the recently signed TVA agreement guidelines.

“JEA approved Silicon Ranch from a Request for Proposal which was managed by a third-party consultant,” Monte Jones said, “Also, the board authorized several equipment purchases as well as replacement of the Training Center roof.

“An extension of an agreement to provide insurance brokerage services was also approved.”

Monte Jones serves as the chairman of the board of directors for Jackson Energy Authority.

“CEO Jim Ferrell gave updates on fuel cost and purchase gas adjustments for the month as well as an update on the status of a gas beltline project in eastern Madison County,” Monte said, “The gas project is on schedule to be completed soon.”

Freed-Hardeman University breaks ground on new Dining Hall that will include a Chick-fil-A

Henderson, Tennessee – Freed-Hardeman University President David R. Shannon led the campus community in hosting a groundbreaking ceremony for FHU’s new dining hall Thursday, Sept. 22, 2022.

According to a press release from Tajuana Cheshier – The Bramblett Group – the dining hall will include a licensed Chick-fil-A location; both the dining hall and the Chick-fil-A will welcome and serve the public, along with FHU faculty, staff and students.

“Dining together creates wonderful moments for families. This dining hall will create tremendous opportunities to nurture community, memories and a new partnership,” Shannon said. “The Freed-Hardeman family is thankful and excited about the future. Glory be to God!”

The dining hall is scheduled to open in January 2024. The dining hall facility will be a 21,148-square-foot new building, located between Brown-Kopel Business Center and the Gardner Center. It will include a commercial kitchen, dining room, outdoor seating and Chick-fil-A. In addition, there will be a lower level Lion’s Den that will provide additional space for students and special events.

West Tennessee Healthcare sells 8 properties valued at $25 million plus

West Tennessee Healthcare has sold eight properties – each located in Jackson – to Capital Partners Group for $25,866,711.

The transaction is a property sale and lease-back.

James Ross, CEO, West Tennessee Healthcare, issued the following statement –

“West Tennessee Healthcare entered into a transaction to sell some its office buildings with an agreement to lease them back for varying periods of time.

“The capital generated from the sale will improve the organization’s cash position and aid in funding more pressing needs for patient care equipment, as well as, hospital facilities and technology infrastructure in the near term.

“Buildings included in the sale were clinics and office buildings that the health systems intends to lease and continue to occupy for the foreseeable future.” – James E. Ross

Business Spotlight – Katie Howerton joins Adelsberger Marketing as graphic designer
