Jackson Energy Authority board of directors approve 4 resolutions during monthly meeting

The Jackson Energy Authority’s board of directors reviewed five items of business during their monthly meeting at the Tennergy Center, Thursday.

“Resolutions were presented for purchases of distribution transformers for the electric division, a new forklift, optical network terminals for the telecommunication division, along with authorizing replacement of an HVAC unit in the Tennergy building,” said Monte Jones, JEA’s chairman of the board of directors, “Additionally, the board participated in training related to a Natural Gas Prepayment Transaction that was also presented as new business to the board.

“The board reviewed financial information for July and heard reports from Jim Ferrell, JEA’s chief executive officer.”

Jackson Sun property sells for $1 million plus

Card Capital, a Jackson-based company located at 118 North Liberty St., has purchased 245 West Lafayette St., which is the home of The Jackson Sun.

Neither Card Capital or Gannett, the owner of The Sun, could not be reached for comment, but the purchase price was $1,025,000.

BellCornerstone Commercial Real Estate brokered the sale of the 2.7 acre property, which includes a 63,000-square-foot facility.

The purchase adds to a growing list of properties Card Capital has acquired in downtown Jackson.

A few of the other acquisitions include 201 East Lafayette St. – the location of Liberty Square Loft Apartments, 209-217 East Lafayette St., 210 East Lafayette, St., the Rockabilly Building, and 300 East Main Street.

West Tennessee Medical Group adds Pulmonology to growing team of specialists

JACKSON, TENNESSEE – West Tennessee Medical Group is pleased to announce the addition of a Pulmonology practice to its multi-specialty medical group. WTMG Pulmonology will be located at 587 Skyline Drive, Jackson, TN 38301.

According to a press release from Amy Garner – Chief Compliance & Communications Officer – West Tennessee Healthcare Clinical services – the team is led by Dr. Shannon Burke and Dr. Sahai Donaldson, both highly experienced pulmonologists. Dr. Burke and Dr. Donaldson offer treatment for a wide variety of lung conditions, including asthma, COPD, bronchiectasis, lung cancer diagnosis and screening, pulmonary nodules, smoking cessation treatment, respiratory failure, lung disease, and pulmonary hypertension.

Dr. Shannon Burke is experienced in the diagnosis and treatment of pulmonary conditions. She specializes in COPD, asthma, lung cancer, pulmonary fibrosis with ILD, Emphysema and chronic cough.

She performs advanced procedures such as bronchoscopy, endobronchial ultrasound, and thoracentesis. Dr. Burke performs minimally invasive and advanced pulmonary procedures exclusively at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.

Dr. Burke earned her medical degree from Kansas City University of Medicine and Bioscience. She completed her residency at St. Louis University School of Medicine. She completed her fellowship training in Pulmonary and Critical Care at St. Louis University School of Medicine.

Dr. Sahai Donaldson is a board certified pulmonologist and board eligible intensivist. She specializes in the management of a broad range of pulmonary conditions such as obstructive lung diseases including asthma and COPD, as well as lung cancer, interstitial lung disease, pulmonary embolism and pulmonary hypertension.

Dr. Donaldson performs minimally invasive and advanced pulmonary procedures such as bronchoscopy, thoracentesis and chest tubes.

Dr. Donaldson earned her medical degree from the University of the West Indies. She completed her residency in New Jersey, after with she completed her fellowship training in pulmonary medicine at Howard University and her Critical Care medicine fellowship training at Stanford University Hospital.
