Storm damage widespread in Jackson-Madison County

With hopes of having power completely restored by Friday evening, utility divisions continue work in the city and county.

Jackson Energy Authority reports outages are down to approximately 2500+ scattered across its service area.

There are approximately 20+ poles down so JEA is facing heavy construction to get those replaced.

Crews from Lexington, Humboldt, Brownsville, and contract crews from Nashville are assisting with restoration efforts.

From Southwest Tennessee Electric – As the line of storms passed through our electric service area, a particularly strong cell, possibly a tornado, passed through Whiteville, Mercer, Denmark, and across Jackson to the I40 Exit 87 area.

Crews are working to isolate damaged areas and restore power to as many members as possible. You can check our outage map at map.stemc.com. If you are without power, text OUT to 85700 if you’ve opted in to our outage texting, or call 1-888-440-1990.
