Tonight, Tuesday, March 18, at the 79th Annual awards ceremony, Senator Ed Jackson was named **Jackson’s Man of the Year**! at the DoubleTree Hotel by Hilton.
A true community servant, Senator Jackson has dedicated his time and energy to making a positive impact in our city. Surrounded by friends, family, and supporters, he graciously accepted this well-deserved honor.

State Senator Ed Jackson, R-Jackson, is Chairman of a key committee in the Tennessee Senate – the Government Operations Committee.
Additionally, Jackson was assigned to serve on the Health Committee, State and Local Government Committee, and Rules Committee.
The Senate Government Operations Committee is generally perceived as one of the most powerful in the General Assembly, as it serves as a government watchdog to ensure efficiency and accountability.
It oversees legislation to create, reauthorize, reorganize or sunset departments, commissions, boards, agencies or councils of state government. The Committee also hears bills regarding licensing and certification of occupational or professional groups, and reviews regulations promulgated by all Tennessee departments, commissions, boards or agencies.
Ed Jackson is a native of Madison County and has a distinguished record of public service.
Prior to being elected to the Senate in 2014, he served in the Army National Guard for seven years. Outside of public service, Jackson is a small business owner. He lives in Jackson with his wife, Marilyn.
