Peabody High School, winners of the Class 2A TSSAA State Football Championship for the second straight year, finished No. 1 – also for the second straight year – in the BAKERS RACK Baker’s Dozen high school football coaches poll.
The BAKERS RACK is located at 203 E Lafayette Street – business hours are 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Friday.
1) Peabody (15-0) – defeated Meigs County, 27-16 in the Class 2A state championship game at Tennessee Tech University, Saturday.
2) Lake County (15-0) – defeated Greenback, 38-23, in the Class 1A state championship game at Tennessee Tech University, Friday.
3) USJ (10-3) – lost to Davidson Academy, 31-21, in the Division II-A state championship game at Tennessee Tech, Thursday.
4) Haywood (12-2) – lost to Springfield, 17-14, in Overtime in the Class 4A state semifinals
5) Huntingdon (13-1) – lost to Lake County, 30-20, in the Class 1A state semifinals
6) Covington (11-3) – lost to Pearl Cohn, 21-20, in the Class 3A state semifinals
7) Dyer County (11-3) – lost to Summit, 27-20, in the Class 5A state semifinals
8) Riverside (8-6) – lost to Peabody, 45-14 in the Class 2A state semifinals
9) Hardin County (11-2) – lost in Class 4A state quarterfinals
10) Henry County (10-3) – lost in the Class 5A state quarterfinals
11) Crockett County (8-5) – lost in the Class 4A state quarterfinals
12) South Gibson County (10-2) – lost in the Class 3A second round
13) West Carroll (8-5) – lost in the Class 1A state quarterfinals
