Stanley Black & Decker adding 255 jobs to Jackson facility

The expansion may not be noticeable on the outside, but Stanley Black & Decker, a manufacturer of power tools and hardware is investing $29 million into its Jackson faciilty, which will add about 255 people to its payroll.

The announcement was made when state and local officials met with representatives of Stanley Black & Decker at theCO> Thursday.

The investment will relocate new lines of production and product development to its facility in Jackson and Madison County.

“It definitely puts a lot of confidence in our facility,” Don Tucker, plant manager of the Jackson plant said. “There are two ways to be excited – the success at our plant and the economy, here in Jackson.”

Additionally, Stanley Black & Decker announced a five-year, $50,000 scholarship program that will support students at the Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT), beginning this fall.

“This program represents our commitment to supporting the development of the next-generation of employees right here in this region,” Tucker said. “We believe that it makes perfect sense for us to additionally support TCAT’s efforts to develop the manufacturing workforce of the future.”

The Jackson plant is currently undergoing major upgrades to create one of Stanley Black & Decker’s first “Lighthouse” facilities, which will serve as a showcase and model for new advanced manufacturing techniques, systems and processes.

Stanley Black & Decker’s power tool production facility in Jackson employs about 550 people.

The Jackson manufacturing facility is one of 30 in the United States.

Jackson Mayor Jerry Gist said Stanley Black & Decker is one of the foundations of manufacturing facilities in Jackson.

“Stanley Black & Decker has been a dynamic force in Jackson’s economy with a longtime commitment to the community,” Gist said. “We are thrilled for its success and growth in our area and proud the company calls Jackson home.”
