West Tennessee Healthcare and HealthSouth Corporation will introduce Spire Rehabilitation Hospital, 616 W. Forest Ave., to the community during a grand-opening ceremony, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., Wednesday.
Previously on the fourth floor at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital, the new 57,066-square-foot hospital will offer 48 all-private patient rooms, including one isolation room, four bariatric rooms, and 10 rooms equipped for patients needing dialysis treatments during their stay.
The facility will also offer a spacious therapy gym, courtyard, dining and dayroom areas.
The inpatient rehabilitation hospital will serve patients overcoming a variety of debilitating illnesses and injuries including stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury, complex orthopedic conditions and amputations.
Some of the benefits of receiving care through an inpatient rehabilitation hospital include 15 hours per week of intense therapy, a team approach to patient-centered care, frequent visits from independent practice physicians and 24/7 oversight from registered nurses, many of whom have achieved specialty training and expertise in physical rehabilitation.
HealthSouth Corporation — one of the nation’s largest providers of post-acute services is located in 33 states and Puerto Rico — including seven in the state. Cane Creek Rehabilitation Hospital in Martin is one of the facilities operated by HealthSouth.
Speakers at the grand opening are Julie Taylor, CEO, Spire Rehabilitation Hospital; Frank McMeen, president, West Tennessee Healthcare Foundation; James Ross, president and CEO, West Tennessee Healthcare; Jerry Gist, City of Jackson Mayor; Jimmy Harris, Mayor of Madison County and Mark Tarr, president and CEO, HealthSouth Corporation.
