Clayton Nelson pleads guilty in father’s 2014 murder…
JACKSON, Tenn. — Clayton Nelson entered a guilty plea on charges of second-degree murder in the case of his father’s death last July. Â Nelson was sentenced to serve 35 years at 100% in the Tennessee Department of Corrections.
According to prosecutors Clayton Nelson stabbed his father in his Westwood Avenue home
Authorities said Nelson called police after the murder and asked them to do a welfare check of his father.
Nelson’s attorney Greg Gookin, assistant public defender for Madison County. said he believed Nelson wanted to avoid bringing the case to a trial. “I think out of respect to his sisters, and family he wanted to try to see if he could work something out”.
Nelson first will be required to complete an eight-year sentence in Sumner County on felony theft charges before serving his 35 years on Madison County charges .
