JACKSON Tenn (March 11, 2015) — Girl Scout Cookies are only here once a year and when winter weather plagues two out of the four weeks it creates a recipes for disaster. Now the Girl Scouts are asking the community help to make this year a success.
Melanie Schild, Memphis CEO of Girl Scouts said “The success of the Girl Scout Cookie Program is critical to our ability to offer the world class experience to our girls”,
Schild said “Girl Scout Cookies do more than just taste good. They fund our future community leaders, teaching them crucial skills to be successful in life.”
According to Schild, Our Jackson / West Tennessee Girl Scouts sell an average 215 boxes per girl. One hundred percent of the revenue after expenses are paid stays within the local council. Last year girls earned almost $800,000 directly for their troop treasuries. The council uses additional proceeds to support girls and volunteers.
The Girl Scout Cookie Program runs now through March 22, 2015.
