From the Jackson Police Department –
At 5:35 a.m. today, June 19, Jackson police were dispatched to a shots fired call in the area of Conalco Drive. Officers observed juveniles running in the area of Royal Arms at 1580 N. Royal Street.
Officers then saw two juveniles get into a car in Royal Arms and drive away at a high rate of speed. Police got into a short vehicle pursuit that ended when the car crashed into a semi-tractor-trailer truck that was stopped at the intersection of Whitehall and N. Parkway.
Police identified the driver as a 15-year-old male and the passenger as a 14-year-old male.
Officers found the passenger in possession of a handgun. The investigation also revealed that the car had just been stolen from a home on Point-O-Woods Drive.
Both juveniles were transported by ambulance to a local hospital for minor injuries. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.
Both juveniles were charged with Theft of Property Over $1,000 for being in possession of a stolen vehicle.
The driver was additionally charged with Felony Evading Arrest, and the passenger was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.
