Sears closing 72 more stores; Old Hickory Mall not on list

Sears, which also owns Kmart, is announced it is closing 72 additional stores.

Sears, in the Old Hickory Mall at 2021 N. Highland Ave., and Kmart, 732 Old Hickory Blvd., were not on the list.

The company is closing 49 Kmart stores, 16 Sears stores and seven auto centers.

The closings add to the more than 180 stores Sears announced it would be closing earlier this year.

Five years ago, Sears had 2,073 stores, a number that will be reduced to about 1,200 in September.

Open in 1967, the 542,475-square-foot Old Hickory Mall in Jackson is owned by CBL & Associates in Chattanooga.
