The Jackson Symphony, which begins its 58th season in September, is looking for a new executive director, to replace Cheri E. Friedman, who joined The Jackson Symphony in September, 2016.
According to the Jackson Symphony’s website, the executive director works in close coordination with the Artistic Director & Conductor, provides leadership and vision to fulfill the Symphony’s mission and to ensure that the Jackson Symphony achieves its goals for financial stability, artistic excellence, and community engagement.
The executive director is responsible and accountable for the management and oversight of all aspects of the Symphony’s $800,000 operation, including: donor development, fundraising, networking, cultivating relationships & outreach within the local community, marketing, communications, budgeting and financial management, human resources, artistic administration, orchestra relations and negotiations, concert production, and educational programs.
The executive director engages, supervises, motivates and leads a professional staff.
Freidman worked with various arts organizations for over 30 years.
She began with internships in box office and general administration for the Williamstown Theatre Festival and the Delaware Theatre Company, before advancing to become the Executive Director of the Longmont Theatre Company (CO), Jefferson Symphony Orchestra (CO), Prescott Fine Arts Association (AZ), Duluth Playhouse (MN), and a six-year stint with the Cuyahoga Falls Chamber of Commerce (OH) while she went after her Master’s in Arts Administration at The University of Akron.
