MCKENZIE – Rusty Thompson, Bethel University head baseball coach, became the winningest baseball coach in school history, Friday.
An 11-3 win in game one of a doubleheader against visiting Cincinnati Christian, gave Thompson win No. 267.
The Wildcats (2-2) gave Thompson win No. 268 with an 8-5 win in game two.
The Wildcats took charge early in game one, scoring five runs in the first inning and adding three runs in the second.
A three run fourth padded the lead, and the ‘Cats never looked back.
Bethel had 11 hits while CCU managed just four in the game.
Riddick had three hits and drove in two runs. Jack Surber, Colby Poston and Brandon Lott also drove in two runs. Austin Brenner had one RBI.
Trevor Bishop picked up the win for the Cats.
A four-run third inning and two runs in the fourth, keyed the Bethel sweep.
Surber, Poston and Lott each drove in a run in game two. Randy Guevarez had two RBI’S. Sidney Rickman had three hits and drove in a run. Jackson Hollinshed had three hits in the 11 hit attack.
Brady Jones was the winner and Axle Metzger picked up the save for the Wildcats.
The Wildcats return to action with a road game at Cumberland University Wednesday with the first pitch schedule for 1 p.m. in Lebanon.
