
MADISON CO, Tenn. (May 28, 2015) — Superintendent Dr Verna Ruffin announced Janice Epperson will be the new instructional leadership director for the district, according to a release from the Jackson-Madison County School System.
Epperson currently serves as principal at Madison Academic Magnet High School will now supervise, support and develop principals in the school system. Epperson worked from 1998 until 2007 at I.B. Tigrett Middle School.
While at Madison Academic, the school has been recognized two years in a row as a Tennessee Reward School as well as a National Blue Ribbon School for 2014.
The role of the instructional leadership director will include but not be limited to supervising, supporting and developing principals to set and attain high levels of student achievement, ensuring that every school has the benefit of exemplary leadership, the release states.
Dr Ruffin also announced David Wicker Jr. as the new principal for Rose Hill Middle School. Wicker Jr. has been the assistant principal of Kate Bond Elementary School in Shelby County.
A national search will be held for Epperson’s replacement at Madison Academic. Ruffin said currently the search does not have a time frame.
