Ross Priddy, a mortgage loan officer with Leaders Credit Union, was elected as councilman in District 5, when the Jackson City Council met at City Hall, Tuesday.
Priddy replaces Scott Conger, who resigned in November after moving out of the district.
Priddy, Anna Parks Covington, FrenCherry Miller and Marsha Christopher, residents of District 5 sent resumes to Jackson Mayor Jerry Gist to apply for the position.
Members of the City Council voted three times, before giving Priddy the necessary six votes needed to win the election.
Charles ‘Pepper’ Bray, Ernest Brooks II, David Cisco, Johnny Dodd, Charles Rahm and Randy Wallace voted for Priddy, and Harvey Buchanan cast the lone vote for Covington.
I am grateful and humbled by the opportunity to serve District 5 as council member,” Priddy said. “I’ve got a lot to learn (and) I have lot of work ahead of me.
“But again, I look forward to getting to work and meeting as many residents in District 5 that I don’t already know and serving them on this council.”
