Renovations begin for new businesses in former Regions Bank building downtown

A prominent landmark building in historic downtown Jackson has been sold, and renovations for new businesses has started.

The former home of Regions Bank and the original home of the National Bank of Commerce, 118 North Liberty Street on the corner of East Lafayette sold May 19.

According to a press release from Sarah Smith – Haven Insurance Partners – the 24,720 square foot facility offers two stories and a basement.

The sale includes the bank drive thru at the corner of East Lafayette and Church Street.

The building was originally the National Bank of Commerce, one of the three original banks in Jackson.

It has always operated as a bank since it was built. The bank has changed names over the years thru bank mergers and acquisitions. First, National Bank of Commerce, then Union Planters, and finally Regions Bank.

This location was closed when Regions opened a branch in the new City Hall.

NEWS: Two local businesses have already committed to move in the building this summer once the renovations are complete.

This will bring more people to work in downtown Jackson. Both Haven Insurance Partners and High Point Logistics will occupy office space on the second floor.

“Haven and downtown Jackson are growing, so it feels like a natural fit,” said Caleb Meriwether of Haven Insurance Partners, “We look forward to serving our clients in Jackson and across the
Southeast from our new home.”

This is viewed as exciting news for local downtown businesses and the City of Jackson as it continues to revitalize the city. More people are living, working and playing in our city, and the hope, this is a trend that will continue for the city.

“We are excited to be part of the downtown Jackson community,” said Sarah Smith, Haven Insurance Partners, “There is so much life downtown and with all the new development in the area we
feel this historic building is an excellent place to serve our customers.”

Office space is still available. Renovations will be made by local company, Hoyt Hayes Construction.

Chris Alexander, the listing agent, said HCB Development is thrilled to represent the seller of another beloved downtown property.

“This one-hundred-year-old property was the original National Bank of Commerce and is quite familiar with folks from Jackson and West Tennessee,” Alexander said, “This purchase is another step forward in the revitalization of downtown and midtown Jackson.

“HCB Development is dedicated to bringing more people back downtown and to continuing to
reclaim downtown as the heart of commercial, urban residential and social life.”
