The temperature outside is not the only thing warming up.
With a 4-2 win at Mississippi, Wednesday, the Jackson Generals completed a four game sweep of the Braves, and won for the sixth straight time in the process.
Kevin Cron and Domingo Leyba (3-4, three RBIs) hit solo home runs for the Generals (48-42, 11-9 second half), who remain four full games out of first place in the Southern League’s North Division, and one game behind Tennessee in the Wild Card race.
Cron, who continues to lead the league in home runs with 18, went station-to-station in the third inninig, and Leyba hit his second homer of the season in the fifth.
Ivan Pineyro (7-0, 2.81 ERA) earned the win and Gabriel Moya saved his 17th game.
The Generals open a five-game series against the Montgomery Biscuits at 6:05 p.m., today, at the Ballpark at Jackson.
Taylor Clarke (8-4, 2.66 ERA) gets the start for the Generals on ‘Thrifty Thursday,’ which features $2 specials on general admission tickets, hot dogs, popcorn, soft drinks, beer, ice cream and fun zone access.
