JACKSON Tenn (March 30, 2015) – The Madison County Sheriff’s Department and the Jackson Police Department are jointly investigating what they are calling a suspicious situation.
According to Sheriff John Mehr, investigators have determined that five Madison County railroad crossings were damaged; three in the city and two in the county.
A press release states, the city locations damaged were Bemis Lane, Highway 45 Bypass south near State Street, and Highway 45 Bypass north off Hollywood Drive near Deaton’s Carpet One. The county locations damaged were Harts Bridge Road and Perry Switch Road.
The train master, Mark Jobe, reported that five crossings were malfunctioning due to the damages. This resulted in the lights flashing and the crossing gates left in the down position.
