
(February 3, 2014) Nashville, Tenn.- The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency has released the statistics of the 2013-2014 deer hunting season.
Deer hunting season began in September with archery hunting. That led into muzzleloader and archery hunting in November.
Towards the end of November, the season opened up to guns, muzzleloaders, and archery. The season concluded with a young sportsman hunt in January.
In total, 168,032 deer were hunted or “harvested” from the forests of Tennessee. That is down from the 172,239 hunted in the 2012-2013 deer hunting season.
The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency also has a spread sheet that breaks down the number of deer hunted by county.
Hardeman County had 4299 deer hunted from the county. Madison County also had a high number of deer hunted. That number totaled 3231.
Henderson County saw 1940 deer hunted, Gibson County had 2042 deer harvested, and Chester County had 1213. Crockett County had 616 deer harvested.
