Jackson police have charged 24-year-old Alisha Harper with statutory rape and simple domestic assault on her 17-year-old boyfriend.
Around 8:20 p.m. Thursday, police were called to an apartment in Parkway East Apartments at 216 Roosevelt Parkway. Officers determined that Harper and her 17-year-old boyfriend had an argument, and she slapped him. Harper was arrested and transported to the Madison County Jail.
According to a press release, further investigation determined that Harper and the teen had been dating for about a month, and they were sexually involved. Harper had previously been warned by the teen's mother to leave him alone because he was underage.
Harper was arraigned Jackson City Court. She was released on $6000 bond around 10:30 a.m. and ordered to have no contact with the teen as a condition of bond.
Harper's next court date is at 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 12 in Jackson City Court.
Jackson police notified the Tennessee Department of Children's Services about this incident.
