Around 12:40 p.m., an 80-year-old Jackson woman had just finished shopping at Dollar General Store, 3224 N. Highland Avenue and was putting items inside her vehicle. She was approached by a man repeatedly asking for money. She
refused. As she was getting into her vehicle, he grabbed her purse. She held on to it. During the struggle, he punched her in the face several times until she release her grip and fell to the ground. The man ran into the apartment complex just north of Dollar General Store.
The woman was transported to Jackson-Madison County General Hospital by ambulance where she was treated for bruised ribs and a possible broken nose.
Shortly after the robbery, Officers stopped a man in the area matching the description. He was identified as the robber.
Investigators determined that the man, Benjamin Jackson, 19, lived in the area. They followed-up on the case and went to where Jackson resides at 3244 N. Highland Avenue Apartment D. The victim
