MADISON COUNTY Tenn — On Monday former Madison County deputy sheriff lieutenant Jerry Elston was sentence to probation for prescription drug fraud
Elston entered a “best interest plea” according to his attorney Mark Donahoe.
Jerry Elston was sentenced to 6 years probation. The agreement also includes a provision that if he completes the probation successfully at the end of six years his record will be expunged
In 2014 Jerry Elston was indicted by a Madison County grand jury on 52 counts of prescription fraud.
After the indictment District Attorney Jerry Woodall recused his office from the case and a special prosecutor was appointed. Assistant District Attorney Chris Scruggs with the District Attorney’s office in Memphis was assigned the case.
