Play begins in 13th annual Stone Cup Golf Tournament, today

There will be a few new twists when golfers begin play in the 13th annual Albert A. Stone Jr. tournament, today.

There will be a one (1) day qualifying round (18 holes) at Jackson National Golf Club, with a 2 p.m., shotgun start.

The top 16 will qualify for Match Play in the Stone Cup; the top eight (8) Seniors for the Senior Stone Cup (if enough participation); and the top four (4) ladies for Beverly Pearce Cup.

Ties will be broken as in the past.

Young men and ladies in Middle School, High School and College will compete for the Tommy Talkington Cup that will be awarded after 18 holes.

The tournament makes a stop at Woodland Hills Golf & Country Club, for Match Play at 8 a.m., Saturday.

Afternoon rounds in the Stone Cup and Senior Stone Cup begin Saturday, after noon.

The final four (4) in the Stone Cup begin play Sunday at the Jackson Country Club – with the finals scheduled for noon.

The finals for the Senior Stone Cup and the Pearce Cup will be held at 8:15 a.m., and 8:30 a.m., respectively.
