Longtime local crop duster Scott Wayne Rainey was killed in an airplane crash Tuesday morning in Weakley County.

Everett-Stewart Regional Airport Chairman Wayne McCreight made the announcement in a released statement.

McCreight said Rainey was a longtime airport board member, aviator and agriculture pilot.

He served on the personnel committee and was Chairman of the agriculture committee.

The accident occurred off of Vancleave Road and is still under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration.
