Pittman Trial Still Set For May 12

IMG_4189JACKSON Tenn (March 16, 2015) — Charles Pittman had an appearance hearing in circuit court on Monday. Pittman is the former Union University student accused of killing his fiancee 21-year-old Oliva Greenlee.

Judge Roy Morgan granted a continuance for the plea deadline. That is the date the judge wants to know if a plea is going to be offered or if the case is going to trial.

Assistant District Attorney Jody Pickens told the court that due to a back log of case work at Tennessee Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab much of the evidence has not been processed. Pittman’s attorney has not been given the evidence prosecutors are going to present.

Pittman’s attorney George Googe agreed to an April 22 continuance date but told the court that gives his office less than three weeks to prepare for trial.

Pittman was charged with first-degree murder and tampering with evidence in the death of his fiancee Olivia Greenlee in February 2014 after her body was discovered in her vehicle on the parking lot of Luther Hall on the Union University campus.

Pittman’s next court appearance is April 27. His trial is scheduled for May 12
