Pickens on Urshawn Miller death sentence – ‘Justice was served’

Jody Pickens, District Attorney General, believes justice was served after Urshawn Miller received a death sentence for the November 2015 murder of Ahmad Dhalai, during an attempt to rob the Bull Market – a convenience store located at 935 Hollywood Drive.

Miller received his sentence, Sunday.

“I appreciate the extremely hard work of the jury in arriving at the verdict and sentence they returned.

I also appreciate the Jackson Police Department for protecting the community and developing the case,” Pickens said. “These cases are not easy. Justice was served (and) the citizens of Jackson will be protected from someone who’s criminal history shows he is a very violent person.

“Our condolences continue to go out to the victim’s family.”

Pickens said Miller returns to court April 16, for sentencing on the remaining counts.
