NEWS/TALK 101.5 FM & WNWS.COM visited with Kenny Sutherland, a realtor with Five Star Real Estate Services to discuss new home construction in Jackson and Madison County.
Question: How has the Coronavirus affected new construction – or has the virus affected construction – in Jackson-Madison County?
Answer: As far as Madison County goes the residential new construction market really hasn’t been affected at all negatively. With the lack of inventory in the residential market most new homes are being put under contract well before they are finished.
Question: Due to the pandemic, what precautions are construction workers taking while constructing a home or homes?
Answer: From what I can tell, it seems like it is taking a little longer from start to finish on construction time and this may be that you have less people working on a house at the same time.
I still see the same folks at the job sites which is a good sign that they are taking care of themselves and being cautious of their surroundings.
Question: What are the names of the new subdivisions where Five Star Real Estate Services has listings?
Answer: At this time we are building in Shepherd’s Field, which is near Porter Cable; Wyndstone, which is off Fairway Boulevard; Emerald Ridge, which is off Cooper Anderson Road; Westhaven, which is off Ashport Road; Copper Ridge, which is near Lifeline Blood Services, and Johnson Estates, which is across from University School of Jackson.
Prices range from the $180’s to the $460’s.
Question: How busy were new home builders before the pandemic?
Answer: We had been going non-stop well before the pandemic, and based on what we are seeing, we should be going non-stop through the remaining of this year and into next year.
