After the Madison County Commission voted The Madison County Commission approved the purchase of property on Ashport Road for a new K-8 school, Monday, the question became – who owns the property?

The 41.5 acres, located east of Pleasant Plains Road, is owned by John W. DeLoach.

The proposal is for the new facility to replace the 73-year-old Pope Elementary, which is need of renovation and repairs.

Pope Elementary is landlocked, and cannot be expanded.
