New business hopes to have downtown brewing at 250 W. Main St.

A dormant building received an influx of new life when local businessman Jerry Corley announced Hub City Brewing will occupy 250 West Main Street, Monday.

“We’re going to have a full brewery, assembly, a full stage, tap room and four bowling lanes we’re putting in … we’ll have a good events center for downtown Jackson,” Corley said. “The concept came from visiting other breweries from all over the southeast, seeing what they had and didn’t have.

“A lot breweries have a tap room, but not a bowling alley or a full stage, so it will give visitors something to do when they get here.”

Corley, who also owns Rock N Dough + Brew Co., at 16 Jackson Walk, said the stage for entertainment will be about 30-feet by 20-feet, with permanent sound and lighting.

“We’ll also have an elevated patio outside,” Corley said. “(Overall) it’s going to be great, and we’re excited about it.”

Corley said about nine different beers will be brewed and distributed across the state of Tennessee – for starters.

“We’ll manufacture and distribute beer across the state,” Corley said. “But this (facility) will be about friendships, community, downtown and all of our history.”

Corley said Hub City Brewing will occupy about 14,000-square-feet of the 20,000-square-foot building that first opened in 1916 as a Ford Automobile dealership.

RND Holdings LLC, purchased 250 West Main Street, from James Michael Crews, Donna K. Crews, Jeffrey M. Crews and Jennifer M Crews for $250,000.

The business is scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2019.

“It’s great to see a lot of the older buildings with such good history and architecture being purchased,” Chris Alexander said. “Buyers are coming in and renovating, and the downtown market continues to grow and evolve.”

Chris Alexander is the vice president of retail and development for Healthy Community LLC.

“We have a beautiful downtown core that encompasses several blocks,” Alexander said. “We’ve seen the investment in several areas of downtown Jackson … Jackson Walk, The Blacksmith Bar & Grill and Baker’s Family Pharmacy over the last five years – and there’s plenty of room for more growth.”
