On July 20, 1969, Neil Armstrong became the first human to walk on the moon, during the Apollo 11 mission.
Approximately six and a half hours later, Buzz Aldrin joined him on the lunar surface. This historic event marked a major achievement in space exploration and the culmination of the US space program’s goal to land humans on the moon.
