Milan’s Avery Williamson, a starting linebacker with the National Football League’s New York Jets, has been lost for the 2019 season, after tearing his ACL in his right knee in Thursday’s preseason game at Atlanta.
Williamson injured his knee near the end of the second quarter while covering Brian Hill, an Atlanta running back in the end zone.
New York cornerback Tevaughn Campbell hit Williamson in the knee while trying to deflect a pass thrown by Atlanta quarterback Matt Ryan.
A graduate of the University of Kentucky, Williamson was in his fifth NFL season – second with the Jets.
He was selected by the Tennessee Titans in the fifth round of the 2014 NFL Draft.
