Medina Middle School may have won the battle, but its the war they want to win when they face county rival Milan Middle for the Gibson County Middle School Football District title at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday at Medina High School.
The Hornets defeated Milan 34-8, September 19, and enter the game at 6-1.
“We led 14-8 at halftime in our earlier meeting, but Milan had some costly turnovers, so the final score was not really indicative of the game,” said Heath Moore, Medina Middle’s head football.
Moore said the Hornets average about 35 points per game.
“We’ve exceeded expectations,” Moore said. “We have a really good group of eighth graders that do not come along that often. We have four quality running backs, a quarterback who throws well and a line (offensive and defensive) that has good size for middle school.”
Kevin Nelson, Milan Middle’s head coach, said nothing needs to be said about the previous meeting.
“We’re excited about the opportunity to play, and we hope we execute a little better this time,” Nelson said. “We’ve created a good conference with good competition and local flavor.”
Dan Reaves, Sea Bass and Richard Barber will broadcast the game on 101.5 FM beginning at 6 p.m., and the game will be livestreamed at http://tncitylinktv.com/channel/jackson-south-gibson/
