Mayoral candidates Conger, Condray address Jackson Exchange Club

Jackson mayor Scott Conger and mayoral hopeful Ray Condray joined the Jackson Exchange Club on Tuesday to discuss their plans for the city and encourage members to get out and exercise their right to vote in the mayoral runoff.

Conger promoted the City of Jackson’s new core financial planning system as an initiative he plans to continue to pursue in his first 100 days in office if he gets re-elected. He also touched on the city’s two strategic plans and how excited he is for the opportunities they will provide to residents.

“We have processes that we are working to improve constantly to make sure that we are making progress in everything that we do,” said Conger. “We want to make Jackson a place that is affordable and provide opportunities for those who want to invest dollars here.”

Condray explained that if elected, he wants to continue to build relationships with the people of Jackson and city council members to understand the issues Jackson is facing. He spoke on how in his first 100 days, he wants to continue to improve the good and eliminate the bad.

“In the first 100 days, we will listen to what citizens say, listen to the department heads and listen to the city council,” said Condray. “We will work together to make Jackson the best place that it can be.”

With the meeting being on the 79th anniversary of D-Day, both candidates harped on the importance of utilizing the freedoms that Americans have been given, such as voting.

Voters registered in the city of Jackson can cast early ballots from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., through Thursday, June 8. Election Day is Tuesday, June 13.
