MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. — The Madison County Sheriff’s Office will soon be housed in what has been West Middle School. On Monday County commissioners approved $180,000 in funding for maintenance including roof repairs for the building. According to commission chairman Gary Deaton the East College Street location needs significant repairs including electrical and heating and cooling repairs. Deaton said it would cost more than $700,000 to renovate. Commissioner hope the building will also be the site of a future Law Enforcement and First Responder Training facility In other business Commissioners approved a resolution asking the state name a new Tennessee Bureau of Investigation lab in honor of the first agent killed in the line of duty. In August TBI Special Agent De’Greaun Frazier was shot and killed in Jackson during an undercover sting operation . The next step is for approval from the state.
