Madison County Sheriff’s Office arrest 16-year-old following bomb threat

From the Madison County Sheriff’s Office –

On February 20, 2024, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with the Jackson Police Department, Tennessee Highway Patrol, and the Tennessee Department of Homeland Security, responded promptly to a reported bomb threat at North Side High School in Jackson, Tennessee.

This marked the second such incident within the previous week. In a swift and coordinated effort, law enforcement agencies mobilized resources and dispatched teams to the scene, ensuring the safety and security of all students, staff, and faculty.

A thorough search of the premises was conducted to mitigate any potential threat. We are pleased to announce that following an extensive investigation conducted by the Criminal Investigations and School Resource Officer Divisions of the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, a suspect has been identified and arrested in connection with this threat.

The suspect, a 16-year-old male juvenile enrolled as a student within the Jackson-Madison County School System, has been arrested and is being charged according to Tennessee Code Annotated TCA § 39-16-517 “Threats of Mass Violence.”

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office emphasizes its unwavering commitment to taking all threats seriously and wants to convey a clear message that such crimes will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
