Madison County Health Department confirms 2 additional COVID-19 deaths; 1,068 cases – up 73 from Friday

The Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department confirms an 80-year-old female died Aug. 1 and a 39-year-old male died July 31 due to complications from COVID-19. This brings the total number of deaths to 17 in Madison County.

The health department received positive test results for 73 more confirmed cases of COVID-19. We now have 1,068 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Madison County. Sixteen of the newest cases are inmates at the Madison County Criminal Justice Complex.

The newest confirmed cases include:

  • 76-year-old female (unknown hospitalization)

Our Epidemiology staff is still trying to contact some of these individuals, so hospitalization status is unknown at this time. We are also reaching out to people who had close contact with these cases.

Fifteen Madison County residents are currently hospitalized. Two of those patients are on a ventilator.

Six hundred ninety-four Madison County residents have recovered from COVID-19, and 60 people say they are feeling better.
