MADISON COUNTY, Tenn (Oct. 11, 2017) – Senator Ed Jackson, Representative Jimmy Eldridge, and Madison County Mayor Jimmy Harris were on-hand to present the Chief Eric Turner and the Madison County Fire Department with the Excellence in Fire Risk Reduction Award. They were chosen from among over 700 other local fire agencies.
Captain Don Friddle explains, “risk reduction is the new word for fire prevention. The county has a risk reduction team of about 30 members Friddle said. The team hosts and offers education programs to any group in the community to increase awareness of fire prevention. They also have a fire investigation component which looks for causes of fires and ways to prevent them in the future.
The County Fire Department is hosting an open house at their Technology Drive location. The public is invited. The event includes a puppet show for the kids, and watching a live fire demonstration. The open house begins at 6:00 p.m.
